Weaving + Felting
Wool Blends | Jitterbug Overshot on 4 Harness Loom
Undulations of rolling hills and valleys underfoot, reflect a muddled abstracted landscape. Meant to be placed on the floor the user feels grounded as they walk over the ridges of the cloth. Through the combination of weaving and felting the fibers are melded together, no deciphering where one thread begins and where one ends. Subtle visual variance is carried throughout the piece in both color and pattern. The soft muted neutrals accompanied by rich ruddy greens and oranges create for a composition akin to the colors of a desert landscape, or a rainy hilly pasture in winter. I want the user to connect to this piece on a deeper level, spark a memory of walking on certain ground in which they have a a personal connection to. The wool creates a feeling of warmth and a homely appearance, the piece is approachable and begs to be felt.
